Lux Arcana

A dimly-lit church.
Flickers of candlelight glint off worked brass and colored glass; pale shadows dance on plaster.
A lingering bouquet of communion wine and ancient wood whisper of the earlier gathering.
The grip of winter’s chill softens as you enter and sit.
Silence surrounds.
From the silence, a lone voice, and then several, rise in song.
Evoking the atmosphere of ancient cloistered traditions, my treble choir Lux Arcana will be singing a compline-inspired musical offering at Church of Our Saviour in Brookline.
Music includes plainchant, arrangements of traditional chants for the season of Lent, and some polyphonic pieces.
The performance will be entirely a cappella and run about 35-40min. In keeping with the monastic ambiance, we ask that there be no applause, please.
